Amateur Radio at the University of the West Indies

Paul, G3SXE, operated as 6Y5PL when he was invited to visit the University of the West Indies Kingston Jamaica in November 2009. For 2 weeks he lectured physics students about Amateur Radio, conducted workshops and recommissioned the station 6Y5UC. The DVD documenting his visit is preserved at the Internet Archive.

Topband Alive and Well in Worthing

During the Covid restrictions of 2020, the Amateur bands came alive with nets on various bands. In the Worthing area we had the popular Four Metre Stay at Home Net at 14:00hs daily, but we also had the weekly Wednesday evening Topband AM net on 1.980. This has encouraged several people to try out Topband for the first time, and for others to get their old valve gear out and give it an
airing.

M0TVV Shack renovation 2022

In March 2022 I began the renovation of an old brick-built storeroom that is built against the rear of my garage at the QTH.

When we moved into the property some 5 years ago, I was excited at the prospect of having a radio shack separate to the house, allowing me to enjoy the hobby without complaints about unsociable hours of operation and noise in the house from the station manager.

An interface lead for the Moonraker MT-270M

The interface lead for the MT-270 being impossible to obtain, I began to research to try and find out the connections required. The interface which was shown on the Moonraker website indicated that it used a four pole 3.5 mm jack plug. The other end had a usb connection.
